Solaray Ubiquinol CoQ-10 30 capsules of 50mg
Solaray's Ubiquinol CoQ-10 is a nutritional supplement based on Ubiquinol (reduced form of CoQ10). Ubiquinones are insoluble in water and participate in a variety of oxidation / reduction reactions. CoQ10 has a cycle in its oxidized ("Ubiquinone") and reduced ("Ubiquinol") form, it is a simple cycle and ubiquinone takes electrons and becomes Ubiquinol. Ubiquinone has to be converted to Ubiquinol to be absorbed by the cells of the intestine (enterocytes). Ubiquinol releases the electrons and turns into Ubiquinone again. This is important because the transfer of electrons is a fundamental step in the production of energy in the cell, in the regeneration of antioxidants in the cell membrane and in the construction of other biological molecules. Absorption of Coenzyme Q-10 in Ubiquinone form has limited absorption. It is better to take it with meals and an absorption of 2-3% of the total dose is considered. Ubiquinol is absorbed more efficiently than Ubiquinone. Studies show that absorption is more than double. Half of the cellular CoQ10 (there is also circulating CoQ10 linked mainly to LDL and HDL) is in the mitochondria (centers of energy production of the cell). Coenzyme Q-10 in the mitochondria is linked to the production of energy, outside of it, it is an antioxidant and is related to HDL and LDL lipoproteins, transporters of cholesterol. It is advised to take during the meal.
