OcuPlus is a food supplement with vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc, copper, lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin. Astaxatin belongs to the group of carotenoids and the human body cannot synthesize it. It must be ingested from the diet, usually from marine organisms. Lutein and zeaxanthin also belong to the carotenoid family. They are found in high concentrations in the macula lutea, the central part of the retina and responsible for central vision. Vitamins C and E act synergistically contributing to the protection of cells against oxidative damage. Zinc is a trace element that helps protect cells from oxidative damage and contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients. It also contributes to the maintenance of vision under normal conditions. Copper is an essential trace element that contributes to the maintenance of connective tissue under normal conditions, as well as to the protection of cells against oxidative damage.
