Artemide Table lamp Red Metal. Dimensions: Base: Ø 11 cm - Desk position (right-angle arm): L 78 cm x H 66 cm - Arm completely unfolded: Max. H 119 cm. Found in the collections of countless modern art museums around the world (including the MoMA), the Tizio desk lamp is a classic in the world of design, created by Richard Sapper in 1972. Nominated for the Prix Compasso d'Oro in 1979, Tizio is a key piece in the Artemide collection, which has built its success as soundly as its technical prowess, through its stylistic lines which marked the 1970s. Artemide is celebrating the 50thth anniversary of the Tizio lamp with a special version in a brand new flamboyant red colourway, representing both the symbolic accent of the Sapper piece and both Artemide's flagship colour. The functioning of the Tizio lamp was revolutionary when it was first created: The base of the lamp serves as a stand and a transformer for bringing the voltage from 220 to 12 volts. The extremely low-voltage current is then distributed along the uprights, then along the two jointed arms with counterweights, finally powering the light source. It's Tizio's arms which conduct electricity to the bulb, eliminating unsightly cables and promoting a minimalist, sleek aesthetic. Tizio reflects the balance between aesthetics and function. A table lamp that remains a marvel of modern design. The two counterweights mean that the user can direct the light however they like. The lamp is adjusted by either a manual push or pull. This version has a retrofit LED light source, combining energy saving with high-performance lighting. Thanks to the LED technology, Tizio provides lighting that is both intense and warm without being blinding. > Flash sale: special price for a limited time only.
