Moustache Coffee table Brown Ceramic. Dimensions: L 105 x W 56 cm x H 81.5 cm. Thanks to 3D scanning and digital milling technologies, Lanna, named after an ancient Asian kingdom, is a replica of an ancient object from Northern Thailand. The change of scale enabled by 3D modeling and sculpting transforms its use, moving it from one typology to another. Unknown and difficult to date, its design is intriguing for its regular, stylized geometry, reminiscent of Art Deco codes. Transposed to this new scale, it still displays the details offered by the original material and the gestures involved in its manufacture. This Coffee table is conceived as a hybrid of sculpture and furniture, industrial and artisanal. It follows on from Replica Catch all #1 and #2, also derived from anonymous objects with remarkable ornamental and narrative qualities. Here, the symbolism of the deer remains mysterious. This animal, represented in abundance by almost every culture in the world but never domesticated, is a mythological and poetic figure that allows everyone to project a narrative onto it. Lanna won't tell us anything about her past, but her quiet, benevolent gaze makes her presence a gentle, pleasantly familiar companion.
