A great addition to the pond edge. Position: full sun Soil: reliably moist, fertile soil or aquatic compost Rate of growth: average Hardiness: fully hardy Forming a low fountain-like clump of variegated foliage, this marginal aquatic perennial is ideal for planting in swathes around the pond edge, or for helping to illuminate boggy regions of the garden where little else will grow. Garden care: Reliable in wet or very moist, ‘boggy’ fertile soils, this acorus can be planted in aquatic baskets (to reduce root disturbance) in shallow water up to 5cm. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years. Wearing gloves, comb through old or damaged foliage in late winter to tidy if necessary.
