A purple leaved spurge perennial with lime-green bracts and yellow flowers. Position: full sun Soil: moist but well-drained soil Rate of Growth: average Flowering period: April to June Hardiness: fully hardy A long-blooming Euphorbia with dark green foliage and upright stems that emerge a dark burgundy becoming more intense with lower temperatures in the spring. Bright lime-yellow flowers contrast beautifully with the dark foliage that is both drought and heat tolerant once established. Resistant to deer and many diseases that affect other euphorbias, ‘Miners Merlot’ is a great addition to any water-wise or Mediterranean style garden borders. Garden care: Cut back the faded flower stems when they start to die back. When working with spurges, always wear gloves since the milky sap is poisonous and a potential skin irritant.
