Planted in March or April, they will mature faster than onions grown from seed. 'Stuttgarter Giant' is an old favourite with characteristically firm, semi-flat onions that store very well. Garden care: Plant this onion from January to April, 3cm deep and 12cm apart. Lift the onions when they aremature (normally in August) and allow them to dry before using.
