Origins of Maca The Maca we know is part of the Maca root from the Lepidium meyenii plant, originating from the Andes mountains in South America. The name 'Maca' is thought to originate from two Chibcha words; ma meaning 'height' and ca meaning 'good food that strengthens'. Traditionally, Maca was supposedly given to the Inca warriors in South America before heading into battle as the root provided the warriors with beneficial strength and endurance. Maca is deemed a 'superfood' due to its traditional properties. Many people in the Western world seek the same therapeutic properties that Maca gave the Inca warriors. Benefits of Maca Maca was once believed to act as an aphrodisiac, however, nowadays, some evidence suggests that Maca contributes to the balance of reproductive hormones. Our Maca Tablets Oxford Vitality provides two strengths of Maca; 1,250mg tablets & 2,500mg tablets. We also provid four quantities to choose from to suit your purchasing requirements.
