Oxford Vitality Grape seed extract tablets 500
Origins of Grape Seed The Grape is produced by a climbing plant known as Vitis vinifera in botanical terms. Vitis vinifera is a woody plant that produces tendrils reaching to 18m. The plant requires partial shade or full sun to produce Grapes, growing well in soil with a neutral pH. There is an extensive array of cultivars of the Vitis vinifera - 10,000 to be exact - which are used in the wine industry, although only a handful are commonly used. The vine is native to the Mediterranean regions, Central Europe and South-Western Asia, cultivated in South-West Asia between 6,000 - 8,000 years ago. The fruit that grows on the vine is technically a berry but we know it as the Grape. Benefits of Grape Seed Grapes have provided a form of traditional remedy for many years. Today, the seed extracted for its herbal properties is derived from the seeds of Grapes suitable for red wine. Grape Seeds contain proanthocyanidins, a group of polyphenols, which have been a subject of extensive scientific research due to their potential health benefits and potential antioxidant properties. The polyphenols in question are GADF (Grape Antioxidant Dietary Fibre) and OPC (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes). Studies have suggested that the seed of Vitis vinifera may aid circulation, maintain healthy blood vessels and capillary integrity. Additionally, the plant has been studied for its potential to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. This might owe to its potential ability to act as a natural defence against free radicals, as supported by a number of studies.
