Oxford Vitality Rosehip tablets 1000
Origins of Rosehip Rosehip is the fruit that sits just below the petals on the rose flower, resembling a rounded berry that matures to a scarlet red or orange colour. There are five main species of rose. At Oxford Vitality, we extract our Rosehip from the Rosa canina, otherwise known as the Dog Rose or Dog Shrub due to the 'canine' reference. The Rosa canina is native to several countries, including Europe, North-Western Africa, Western Asia and the Indian Sub-continent. The plant thrives in woodlands, bushland and hedgerows in temperate climates. In optimal conditions, the plant can grow 1-3m tall, climbing over other vegetation. The Rosa canina was originally believed to cure the bite of rabid dogs after a woman had a dream to send the rose to her militia son. In the past, Rosehip extracts have been used in foods, jams, jellies, syrups, herbal teas, cosmetics and perfumes. Please note that Rosehip may also be known as Rose Haw or Hep. Benefits of Rosehip Rosehip is known for its high Vitamin C and carotenoid concentrations. Being rich in Vitamin C, the berry extract possesses antioxidative properties. Antioxidants protect the body from free radicals, reducing oxidative stress to maintain cellular integrity, strengthening the body's immune system. Rosehip is also thought to contribute to the health of the digestive system, bladder, kidney and respiratory system, reducing symptoms of discomfort which can inhibit relaxation. Additionally, rosehip has been shown to contribute to normal skin and eye health. Our Rosehip tablets Our Rosehip is extracted from Rosa canina, a variant of Rosehip.
