Axel Morin Gsm - All Photographs Shot On Iphone

The title GSM refers to the dated way that the French often refer to a cell phone. I like the idea that this series of photographs, which is based on the evolution of the use of the telephone, adopts this name. The ambition through the GSM (Global Mobile System for Communication) project is to share Axel Morin vision of the world and to share the emotion provided by what surrounds him. This work presents the way this perception is conceived in his mind and its translation into images, which tells the urban poetry the artists sees every day - all through the use of a single medium, his iPhone. Since the beginning of this series initiated in 2014, several generations of iPhone have passed through my hands, allowing him to capture these city snapshots, in a work of collection and archiving. The tones, the lines, the lights follow one another and answer each other in a cinematographic montage, presenting a modern and delicate world-city. As an art, photography is subject to the perception of each individual, but an image is above all a story, a moment and a representation of the person behind the camera. This off-camera element is important to Morin, because it is through his specific sensitivity that the GSM series has been conceived. Each image reflects the truth of an instant of his life and represents something meaningful to him. This book is an archive of our time, made with the tool we always carry with us, which have become an extension of ourselves. The images are not anticipated or constructed, they are the ones that emerge from the urban monotony and are collected by the phone. The very graphic composition of the photographs draw from his past as a painter, and the association of lines and colors plunge us into a re-enchanted everyday life. This collection of post-modern photographs offers a graphic and poetic look at our urban environment.
