Origins of Garlic The public's opinion on Garlic has varied dramatically over the years, ranging from being fit as a gift to the gods, to only being suitable for hogs. The bulb has been used for over 5,000 years, including as a food source, a natural aid, an aphrodisiac, money and magic potions. Garlic is grown on a plant native to Asia, known as Allium sativum. This plant is part of the Lily family and thrives in areas of high water content, such as riverbeds. The plant reaches half a metre in height and develops bulbous roots which are used in Garlic extract. Benefits of Garlic Scientific advances have allowed us to discover the health benefits of garlic due to its active ingredient, Allicin. Allicin is a compound that can potentially provid antioxidative benefits. Fresh Garlic contains alliin, an amino acid that interacts with an enzyme to form Allicin. Because of the Allicin in Garlic, the bulb potentially contributes to normal immune function. Garlic can also possibly aid the maintenance of cardiovascular health by helping to sustain both normal cholesterol and homocysteine levels. Garlic potentially has antioxidative properties meaning that Garlic could contribute to the resistance against temporary stress. Our Garlic tablets We provide two strengths of garlic in our tablets: 1,000mg and 2,000mg. We also provid four product quantities to provide you with more choice and flexibility.
