It is branchy and very aromatic reaching up to a meter in height. Its branches are green or reddish, whitish due to the presence of hairiness. The somewhat grayish leaves are born facing each other, are long and narrow. The inflorescence is compact, with a quadrangular section and the flowers are crowded in dense terminal spikes that carry a set of sterile violet or reddish bracts at their termination.
